365 days of colour - on hold

Happy Easter everyone - hope you had a nice one. Ours started way to early, Luke apparently forgot all rules of not waking the parents up before 7:00 AM and came bouncing into our bed in the wee dark hours. I'm amazed how magical the Easter Bunny and Santa and the Tooth Fairy and all that still are to him. It was raining cats and dogs and there he was running around in the rain with an umbrella looking for eggs. Happy as could be.

Bad news about the 365 days thing... there is something wrong with my camera, all my pictures are coming out with a big black splotch in the middle of them. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with my lenses since changing them didn't help... so I'm taking my camera into a store to see if they can help me figure it out. Till then... my daily pictures are on hold, because the spot is driving me nutso. Oh well. Need to get it fixed asap, because I can't take pictures of beads either. And all my spring flowers are coming... Eek.

Luke's Blog

For family and friends - a new blog to be filled with videos of Luke, Luke's own videos, Luke pictures and stories. All about Luke. Here is one from there, skiing today at Crystal Mountain. You can find the blog here: Luke-a-do.

365 days of colour: day 76

mulch

Not the loveliest of shots... but it's all I have for today. This is one of the things I've been been working on - in the midst of all the other home things I've been working on - and now I'm sick and have lost my voice to top it all off. Fun. And so was spreading all this bark... in the hopes of a level enough spot to have the table this year. Lanscaping for real won't start until next year at the earliest. This will have to make-do. (It's not really done yet... but I'm kinda tired of it so it will have to take a break.)

365 days of colour: day 75

tapestry

This is a wall hanging my grandmother made for me and my brother when we were very small. That is me (shirtless) and my brother playing in the pond with our dog Sondy. The blue bird near the top is Twinkle, my mother's old bird. Her dog is the grey one near the front as well... I can't remember his name. Some of the images are drawings of hers from when she was a little girl, others my grandmother just made up. Magical and treasured.

It Works!

The powder room is functional!!! And on the way to beautiful too - I'm SO happy... have been waiting so long for this day. This photo was taken while Frank ran to the home improvement store for um... the 4th... 5th?... time this weekend. He just needed one little thing and then when he got back he got it all together in no time and turned on the water... and just a few more tweaks on the connections (don't.want.to.tighten.compression.seals.too.much or some such greek explanation) and it worked great!!! Yes, a lot left to do, but this was such a big milestone... we even opened a bottle of white star to celebrate. Cheers!

365 days of colour: day 70

lights

Not the most exciting photo in the world... but WOW, I have lights! I know, I know, there are only two lit, I thought I had bulbs but I don't... so off to the store first thing in the morning. Had to special order my grout color - it will be in tomorrow afternoon... I might just grout tomorrow night, I'm so excited! I have to look and see how long I have to wait after grouting to install the fixtures... but maybe they will be in this weekend, if all goes well.

365 days of colour: day 69

starfish necklace

Necklace made from yesterday's beads. Luke has informed me that I'm not to sell it, because he likes it so much and I should wear it "every day". He hates it when I sell things... he's like me, wants to keep them all.

365 days of colour: day 65

hutch

I did it! I made a hutch for my jewelry bench! Frank helped of course, good thing since this was bigger than that small shelf I made from the scrap wood. He drilled pilot holes this time and the wood didn't split. I hammered in little rusty-looking upholstery tacks along the top to give it some personality. Still organizing and filling my jars with beads, excuse the mess, I just wanted to share and it's still several hours away from being perfect :)

The Auction Birds

The flock - done! The birds went for $1000 - the bidding war was just heating up, one mom was just about to raise her paddle again and the auctioneer (John Curley) closed it out! It would have gone for much more... too bad.

365 days of colour: day 61

box of birds

A box of birds came in the mail - I love this little box of birds, it's the happiest thing I've opened in awhile. More bird necklaces coming soon, or at least as soon as I can bring myself to break up this happy flock.
