It works like a charm and keeps the bedding on the floor of the coop really pretty clean - I'll change that out maybe once a month - I found some rubber boot trays and cut one down so I have two of them in there, I just pull them out and dump the old bedding in the compost, slide them back in and add fresh bedding. SO easy.Pam @ The Blue Betweenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04089230229610745433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11791594.post-85980797154170970042012-02-19T09:47:46.943-08:002012-02-19T09:47:46.943-08:00Hi Heather, the sand has worked out really well. In the summer it stayed dry, and it was easy to clean out with a kitty litter scooper, but now that it's winter here in seattle, it's damp and not lovely to clean, so we just let it go. the chicken poop seems to just disappear into it, I just rake it around every once in awhile to keep it from getting hard. So our plan is to shovel out the sand in the spring and get some fresh sand for the year. I'm thinking of adding some of the dirty sand to the garden beds along with compost...Pam @ The Blue Betweenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04089230229610745433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11791594.post-14997651839463333872012-02-19T06:44:25.688-08:002012-02-19T06:44:25.688-08:00I am in the process of deciding on the coop I want...I am in the process of deciding on the coop I want for my chickens and I really like your design. It has most of the features I'd like to have in my own. I wanted to ask why you chose sand for your run and how is it working out? Thanks for sharing your coop and all the project pictures. It is very beautiful.Heathernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11791594.post-86837094366571981522012-01-16T19:48:55.205-08:002012-01-16T19:48:55.205-08:00nice coop......your chicken must be happy.nice coop......your chicken must be happy.yuniprima.blogspot.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05627894750061801233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11791594.post-49584833472358156272012-01-02T13:13:49.386-08:002012-01-02T13:13:49.386-08:00Love those happy chickens - you have a lovely coop...Love those happy chickens - you have a lovely coop and your hens look tickled with it! )Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11791594.post-57526541927916287312011-07-12T12:23:21.576-07:002011-07-12T12:23:21.576-07:00You have some pretty chickens and your coop looks ...You have some pretty chickens and your coop looks amazing.
