A Mappish Bead

If you know me, you know I love maps. Old maps, new maps, road maps, water maps, aerial maps. It doesn't matter, I just adore them. This bead brings that feeling to me, though it looks like no Earth I know. On Etsy.

The First Day

The day was off to a good start, some happy beads were made, a very cool bead was turned into a very cool pendant...

Frank decided he was going to cook Chinese food for us and had been slaving away for hours... and was just about to put it on the table.... when Luke decided to run around a corner, trip, fall, whack his chin on the corner of the toilet tank.... and then proceded to scream bloody murder while blood gushed all over the place.

A trip to the ER, 4 stitches... an awful meal at McDonalds... and all of a sudden 2009 doesn't seem all that fresh and new and good. Somehow, Luke was able to strike a deal on the way to the hospital and Frank agreed to pay Luke $10 a stitch, so at least someone is cashing in on the prosperity prospect.

He looks like he's in shock, but not really, he was over the hysterics by the time we got there.

Handmade Glass Heart Cane

And here is a bead made with some of them. The hearts kind of get swallowed up by the border color - will have to try some non-spreading color combos.

A Real Snowman

Luke and I made this today. It's taller than Luke and graces our front yard. You can see all three snowmen here.

Today's Haul

It's really too cold to melt glass, but I had fun trying. Today I tried to make shard beads and I tried copper mesh. Both beads cracked. That was how most of the day went, but in the end there were a few pretties that survived.

Snow Day

Is this the saddest snowman ever???

snowman

It's a snow day, no school for Luke because, get this, a STORM IS COMING. Seriously folks, the roads are better today than they have been in since Sunday. Whatever.

The good news is that all the gifts have gone out in the mail today. Except for the ones I still need to order online, that is. BUT Phew, that's a relief! One more bead to make and turn into a necklace - this one for Luke's vision therapist, but I have a week still for that.

Teacher gifts are ready to be bagged up, assuming there will be any school the rest of the week so that we can give them to them. I think they will like them this year too - what do you think? Want to be Luke's teacher??? Haha.

Hope the holidays are not coming too fast for all of you... that you are not feeling as manic as I am. So much for making this one a "simple year". Ah well. Manic is better than "bah-humbug".
